Lowly Worm goes on one more adventure

Fifty years after the first edition of Richard Scarry's classic 'Best Word Book Ever' hit bookshelves, the author is back with a posthumously published title about fan-favorite Lowly Worm.
The manuscript for "Best Lowly Worm Book Ever" was discovered by Huck Scarry in his father's studio and is believed to date from around 1990--four years before Richard's death. The text and sketches had not been completed or colored, but have since been completed by Huck, who is an artist in his own right.
Richard Scarry was born in 1919 and raised in Boston. His first illustrating job was with the U.S. Army, designing graphics and maps.
Scarry spent the rest of his life illustrating children's books, including titles about Winky Dink, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Smokey the Bear. Lowly Worm, an anthropomorphic worm, and Huckle Cat became popular characters in Scarry's own original stories. "The Lowly worm was his very favorite character for all the children, " his widow Patsy Scarry said at the time of his death in May 1994.
